Hi guys! FINALLY. I’m back! I know, it’s been a while huh. Finals are done, which means I have time to blog again. Exams meant a lot of time to try out new stuff. I might not have had the time to write new articles or shoot photos, but I did buy loads ‘n loads of new stuff (also got a few gifts, since it has been my birthday) to try out and review for you guys. The first products I want to share are the lipsticks from Freedom. They are super affordable, but are they any good? Let’s find out together.

Freedom Pro Lipstick - The Vamp CollectionFreedom Pro Lipstick - The Bare Collection

These are the two sets I ordered: The Bare Collection and The Vamp Collection. These sets retail for €7,49 (!) a set. That’s less than €1,50 a piece. Crazy right? I own a few products from this brand, some good, some bad, so I was very curious as to what these would be like. I didn’t expect too much of these to be honest, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The Vamp Collection

Swatches from

top to bottom:

  • Intense Noir
  • Dark Paradise
  • Dusk Till Dawn
  • Pure Vamp
  • Vamp Noir

I really like how they worked with a theme for this set of colors, even though vampirism may not be the most original theme. As you can see, the swatches aren’t patchy. Really nice pigment! I had them on my arm for about 15 minutes and I couldn’t get them off. They stained so much! I even tweeted a picture of it.

Now let’s have a look at the colors on my lips:

Freedom Pro Lipstick Vamp Collection Intense Noir on the lips

I really do not like this one once it’s on the lips. It was the most disappointing color of the bunch. Very dark and very light colors are always tricky, because they’re often patchy, and this is no different. On my arm it was fine, but on the lips it looks a tad messy. A lipliner underneath might save it though (sadly, I didn’t own a pencil in that color).

Freedom Pro Lipstick Vamp Collection Dark Paradise

Also slightly on the patchy side, but way better than Intense Noir. I thought I would absolutely hate this color, because it has tiny gold glitter pigments in it (I prefer a matte finish), but I actually kind of like it. Purple tones are growing on me. I would also recommend using a lip pencil under this one.  Freedom Pro Lipstick Vamp Collection Dusk Till Dawn

This is one I love, even though I thought I was going to hate it. I usually don’t like pinks on my lips, but this has a nice cool undertone and it turns out quite gorgeous. It’s also completely patchy-free and it stayed on even after drinking and eating. Freedom Pro Lipstick Vamp Collection Pure Vamp

Pure Vamp is your classic red. I feel like all of the colors have a cool undertone except for this one, this has more of an orange undertone. That’s okay though. It’s a perfectly okay staple type of red.

This dusty, wine-like red is also one of my favorites. It goes on smoothly and is a little less “in-your-face” like Pure Vamp is. It’s a nice, wearable red. Not too dark, not too bright.

The Bare Collection

Swatches from top to bottom:

  • 111- Untouched
  • 112- Sooner or Later
  • 113- Whispers
  • 114- Naked Beauty
  • 115- Mannequin

Oddly enough, this collection has numbers, apart from the names. The Vamp collection doesn’t have this. As you can see, these swatches look alike a lot. They’re all simple nudes, with only small differences in tone. I bought this set because I wasn’t sure if nude lipsticks actually fit me, as I always go for reds. I wanted to try out a more affordable range, rather than splurging on only one, more expensive lipstick (I might not have liked).

Let’s have a look:

Freedom Pro Lipstick Bare Collection Untouched

I feel like Untouched barely shows up on my lips. You do have to keep in mind that my natural lip-color is darker than this shade. Knowing this, it actually did quite a good job.

Freedom Pro Lipstick Bare Collection Sooner or Later

Sooner or Later is a darker nude with pink undertones. I really like this one, it’s very beautiful and looks super natural on me. Untouched and Sooner or Later almost looked identical on my arm-swatches and in the tubes, but on my lips, you’re able to see a difference! I like it.

Freedom Pro Lipstick Bare Collection Whispers

Whispers is the most pink-y nude of the bunch. It’s quite sheer and that’s why I don’t really like it. Even though all of the colors are nude and therefore not the most explosive colors, I feel like this one isn’t really working for me. But that may be just me.

Freedom Pro Lipstick Bare Collection Naked Beauty

Naked Beauty is another nude (duhh..) but with a brown undertone instead of a pink undertone. On my it looks kind of orang-y, but I think that’s what makes it unique.

Freedom Pro Lipstick Bare Collection Mannequin

And lastly, there’s Mannequin. It’s the sheerer sister of Naked Beauty, I feel. I’m not too excited about this one, again, because it’s rather sheer and I like my colors to be more opec.

Fix broken lipstick
I also wanted to mention this little accident I had with one of the lipsticks. I was swatching them and BAM, it broke off! It wasn’t even that far out of the tube. They’re super creamy, which is a plus, but be careful to not break them! (I was able to fix it with a lighter though, so don’t throw it away if this happens to you! It’s fixable).

I would recommend these sets for people who want an affordable way to try out colors, like I did! I wasn’t sure purple tones and nude tones were my cup of tea, so in stead of going to my nearest MAC store, I bought these. It made me realise that I love nude shades and that I want to invest more in them. In the mean time, I have 10 lipsticks that’ll probably last me a lifetime.

In short, PROs:

  • Super affordable
  • Quick delivery (if you order from Boozyshop)
  • No animal testing
  • Long staying power

CONs:

  • Some of them are patchy
  • Some (especially in the bare collection) are a bit too much alike

In the end, for €7,49 I don’t think you will regret buying these, keeping in mind that you get good quality for a very low price. Besides, there’s even more sets available apart from these two.

PS: I promise, I’m in no way sponsored by Boozyshop. I tend to refer to them a lot, but that’s because I really love ordering there. They have very good customer service and they ship fast.
